IFS FOOD: International Food Standard aims to encourage the efficient selection of food suppliers under the large-scale retail brand, based on their ability to provide safe products, compliant with contractual specifications and legal requirements.
GFSI: Global Food Safety Initiative is a private organisation, set up and managed by the international trade association. It maintains a scheme to benchmark food safety standards for manufacturers, as well as farm assurance standards.
SQF: Safety Quality Food, food safety standard.
HACCP: Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point. Control system for food production which aims to guarantee safety and hygiene.
FDA: The Food and Drug Administration is the US government agency that oversees the regulation of food and pharmaceutical products.
